Instant meeting

Need to talk to someone RIGHT NOW — without scheduling a calendar event and sending invitations? With an instant meeting, you start the video meeting immediately in your personal room and share the link with whoever you want to talk to.

How to start an instant meeting

1. Go to Video meetings
2. Click Start an instant meeting (or Start meeting now if you have a new account)
3. Your meeting room opens in the browser

You're now in the meeting on your own. While you wait, you can:

• Adjust your camera and microphone
• Choose a background
• Turn off video if you just want to talk

Invite others

When you're ready to bring people in:

1. Click the Copy button to copy the meeting link
2. Paste it wherever you want to share it — in an email, chat, text message, or a calendar invitation

You'll get a Copied ✓ confirmation.

The recipient clicks the link and joins right away — no account needed. They get to choose a name before joining.

Your personal room

The instant meeting happens in your personal room — a permanent link that's yours alone. The link doesn't change between meetings, so people you've given it to can come back.

The room's title is personalized: "{Your first name}'s room". You'll see the text "Always available" and "Your dedicated room — same link anytime."

When a personal room is a good fit

The personal room is perfect for:

• 1-on-1 conversations
• Recurring weekly meetings with the same person (they can return to the same link)
• Spontaneous conversations that don't need to be planned ahead

Security and privacy

An instant meeting is just as secure as a scheduled one:

• End-to-end encrypted — media streams are encrypted between participants
• Servers in Norway — all relay and signaling servers sit on Norwegian soil
• No recordings stored — the meeting content is as ephemeral as a phone call
• Guests without an account — share the link and they join right away

End the meeting

Click Leave meeting or close the tab. The meeting ends when the last participant leaves.

A personal room is always open

Personal rooms can't be "locked" the way scheduled meetings can. Anyone with the link can join — so be mindful of who you share it with, and consider using a scheduled meeting for sensitive conversations.
