Follow up on email
Ever sent an important email and forgotten that you were waiting for a reply? The Remind me feature in the compose window sends you a nudge if no one has replied after a number of days you choose.
Setting a reminder
- Write a new email (or open a draft)
- Before you send, click Remind me in the toolbar of the compose window
- Choose the number of days — typical options are 2, 3, 5, or 7 days
- Send the email as usual
The reminder is attached to the email. If you get a reply from the recipient before the days are up, the reminder is removed automatically. If no one replies, it pops up as a small notification in your inbox when the time runs out.
Where do I see reminders?
- In your inbox, the email shows a reminder marker once the time has come
- In the sent folder, you can see which emails have active reminders (a clock indicator next to the subject)
Change or remove the reminder
Click the email in your sent folder, then the reminder icon. You can choose Remove reminder or change the number of days.
When should you use it?
- Important offers or proposals you're waiting to hear back on
- Messages to busy people who might need a nudge
- Orders or invoices where you want confirmation within a set number of days
- Emails to customers you don't want to forget to follow up on
Use reminders sparingly
Don't set a reminder on everything — the notifications just turn into noise. Use it on the few emails where following up really matters.
