Activity and history
Every file and folder in onmeil.eu has an activity log that shows what has happened to it — who changed, opened, shared, or deleted it. Handy for keeping track when you work with others.
How to open the history
- Go to Files and find the file you want to check
- Click Details (or pick it from the More actions menu)
- In the details panel, click Show full history to open the full activity modal
The modal is called "Full history" and lists every event in chronological order.
Which events are logged?
| Event | What it means |
|---|---|
| created the file | Someone made the file — the first owner |
| saved a new version | A change was saved — see Versions |
| renamed the file | The file name was changed |
| moved the file | The file was moved to another folder |
| opened the file | Someone opened the file to view or edit it |
| downloaded the file | Someone downloaded a copy to disk |
| shared the file | The file was shared with a new person |
| accepted the share | The recipient said yes to the invitation |
| declined the share | The recipient said no thanks |
| revoked the share | Access was removed for a person |
| deleted the file | The file was moved to the Trash |
Each line shows who performed the action and when. For saves that happen in quick succession, the system may show "merged with an earlier save" to keep the list readable.
Filter events
In the activity modal, you can filter by type:
- All — show all activity
- (other categories appear as needed, e.g. only share-related ones)
Empty history
If the file was just created and nothing has happened since, you'll see "No activity to show".
How long is the history kept?
The activity log is kept for as long as the file exists — including after it's been moved to the Trash. If the file is deleted permanently, the history is deleted too.
Tips
- Check the history when something looks off — for example, if the content changed and you don't know who did it
- Use it together with Versions — the history shows who saved, versions show what was saved
- For shared files, the history is important — you can see exactly when someone opened the file, whether they downloaded it, and so on
