Unsubscribe from newsletters
Many newsletters ship with a built-in unsubscribe mechanism inside the email (a technical "List-Unsubscribe" header). When an email has this, onmeil.eu shows an Unsubscribe button so you can opt out with one click — without hunting for a tiny link at the bottom of the message.
How to unsubscribe
- Open an email from the sender you want to unsubscribe from
- Click the Unsubscribe from newsletter button (only shown if the sender supports it)
- Confirm: "Unsubscribe from this sender? We'll send them an unsubscribe request."
- We send an unsubscribe request to the sender on your behalf
You'll get the confirmation "Unsubscribe request sent" once it's on its way.
What happens on the other end?
The sender receives the request and updates their list. It can take a few days before you stop getting new emails — most reputable senders honor unsubscribes right away, but some take longer.
If the unsubscribe fails
Some senders have a broken unsubscribe setup or haven't configured it correctly. In that case we show "Couldn't unsubscribe. Try the link in the email yourself."
If that happens:
- Open the email and look for an Unsubscribe link at the bottom — these links sometimes have to be clicked manually
- If it still doesn't work, or if you suspect spam, block the sender instead
Tips
- Unsubscribing doesn't remove old emails — it only stops new ones. Older emails stay in your inbox until you delete them
- Confirmation emails from unsubscribes may show up in your inbox — that's normal and you don't need to do anything about them
- Want to filter out newsletters systematically before they reach your inbox? Create a rule that automatically marks them as read or moves them to a folder
