Birthdays in your calendar
When your contacts have a birthday saved in their contact details, onmeil.eu shows them as events in your calendar — so you never forget to send your wishes.
How birthdays appear
Birthdays show up as all-day events in your calendar, with a 🎂 emoji in front of the name:
🎂
They're marked specially and can't be edited like regular events — the information comes from the contact card.
Where do birthdays come from?
For a birthday to appear, the contact needs a date of birth saved on their contact card. You can add or change this in the Contacts app.
For your own birthday, the date comes from Settings → Identity → Date of birth.
Turn off birthdays in the calendar
Don't want birthdays visible in your calendar? You can hide the Birthdays calendar from the sidebar — click the checkbox next to its name.
You can also do this per contact: on the contact card you'll find a toggle for "Show birthday in calendar". When it's off, that particular person's birthday won't show up.
Your own birthday in other people's calendars
Other onmeil.eu users who have you as a contact will see your birthday in their calendar, if you've saved it in your profile.
Don't want to appear in other people's calendars? Leave the date-of-birth field blank in Settings → Identity.
Tips
- Enter birthdays for the people who matter — kids, parents, siblings, partner. That way you always have them in front of you
- Birthdays can show up as "yearly recurring" — so you don't have to set them again every year
- Remember to include the birth year if you want the right age shown (many calendar apps display "X years old" based on the year)
