Custom domain
With a Pro subscription, you can use your own domain name for both outgoing and incoming email. Instead of navn@onmeil.eu, you get navn@mittdomene.no — delivered to the same inbox.
Requires Pro
Custom domain is a Pro feature. You can have one domain and up to 50 aliases in total (shared between @onmeil.eu and your own domain). See Choose plan to upgrade.
What you need
- A registered domain that you own
- Access to the DNS settings at your domain provider (e.g. Domeneshop, Domainnameshop, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Namecheap)
Setup usually takes 5–30 minutes, most of which is spent waiting for the DNS changes to propagate.
How to connect your domain to onmeil.eu
You'll find the setup under Settings → Custom domain.
Step 1: Add the domain
- Type your domain name in the field (e.g.
mittdomene.no) - Click Add domain
The domain appears in the list with the status Awaiting ownership.
Step 2: Confirm that you own the domain
We'll show you a TXT record that you need to publish in DNS for your domain.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| TYPE | TXT |
| HOST | _meil-verify.mittdomene.no |
| VALUE | meil-verify=<en unik streng vi viser deg> |
| TTL | 300 seconds |
Each value has a copy button next to it — use it so you don't make a typo.
Here's what to do:
- Log in to your domain provider and open the DNS settings (these may be called "DNS", "Records", or "Zones")
- Add the TXT record with the values shown
- Back in onmeil.eu, click Confirm ownership
The verification code is valid for 6 days. If you remove the domain and add it again later, you'll get a new value.
DNS propagation
DNS changes usually take 5–30 minutes to propagate, but can sometimes take up to a couple of hours.
If we can't find the TXT record, we'll show: "We can't find the TXT record at _meil-verify.mittdomene.no yet. DNS changes can take a few minutes — check the value at your domain provider and try again." Wait a moment and click Confirm ownership again.
In the background, we check the status automatically — you don't need to keep refreshing the page.
Step 3: Set up email records
Once ownership is confirmed, the status changes to Awaiting DNS and we'll show the five records you need to publish for email to work. Each value has a copy button in the app.
MX (incoming email) — priority 10
- Type: MX
- Host:
mittdomene.no - Value:
ws.no.wayscloud.services
MX backup (failover, optional) — priority 20
- Type: MX
- Host:
mittdomene.no - Value:
ws-backup.no.wayscloud.services
SPF
- Type: TXT
- Host:
mittdomene.no - Value:
v=spf1 include:onmeil.eu ~all
DKIM
- Type: CNAME
- Host:
wayscloud2._domainkey.mittdomene.no - Value:
wayscloud2._domainkey.onmeil.eu
DMARC
- Type: TXT
- Host:
_dmarc.mittdomene.no - Value:
v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:dmarc@mittdomene.no
Here's what to do:
- Publish each record at your domain provider
- Back in onmeil.eu, click Check DNS now
- Once all the required records are in place, the domain becomes Active and you can start sending and receiving email
For each row, we show a status indicator:
- ✓ — the record is found and valid
- ○ — the record is missing or has the wrong value
- … — we're checking right now
The MX backup record is optional — the domain activates as long as the primary MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are in place. We still recommend the backup, so you have failover if the primary receiver has problems.
About the DKIM key
The DKIM record is a CNAME that points to a shared key at onmeil.eu. That means you don't have to manage cryptographic keys yourself — we rotate them safely on our side, and your emails stay signed automatically.
The selector (wayscloud2) may change over time. If we rotate it, we'll ask you to publish an updated CNAME — the new value appears in the same panel.
About the DMARC record
The DMARC record contains your own email address for reports (rua=mailto:dmarc@mittdomene.no). You don't necessarily have to actively read these reports — the important thing is that the record exists, so that email systems on the receiving end know that onmeil.eu is allowed to send on behalf of your domain.
When the domain is active
When the status shows Active, you'll see:
- An activation time (e.g. Activated 18.05.2026 | 08:31)
- All DNS records marked with ✓
- A "Use as default" toggle — turn it on to use your own domain address as the default sender on new emails
- A "Choose your primary address" section — here you can switch your actual login address from
navn@onmeil.eutonavn@mittdomene.no. Email keeps landing in the same inbox, but the address shown in the sidebar and that you use to log in becomes the new domain
Aliases on your own domain
With Pro, you can have up to 50 aliases in total — split between @onmeil.eu and your own domain. Aliases like kontakt@mittdomene.no or faktura@mittdomene.no are delivered to the same inbox.

Removing a domain
You can remove a connected domain at any time:
- Go to Settings → Custom domain
- Click Remove next to the domain
- Type the domain name to confirm deletion
- Click Remove
What happens next:
- The domain is deactivated immediately — email sent to addresses on the domain after this will bounce
- The domain enters a grace period where you can click Restore to undo. The grace period itself is shown as "Deleted — restore within X hours, otherwise it's permanently removed."
- After the grace period expires, the domain is automatically deleted permanently
To delete without waiting for the grace period, click Delete permanently now — you'll need to type the domain name once more to confirm. After this, the domain can't be restored.
After deletion
Email sent to addresses on a deleted domain will bounce. Make sure you have an alternative address or have notified your contacts before you delete an active domain.
The DNS records at your domain provider are not removed automatically — you'll need to delete them manually if you're not going to use them for anything else.
If something isn't working
- "We can't find the TXT record yet." — DNS changes can take a few minutes. Wait a bit and try again.
- "Invalid domain name" — check that you typed the domain correctly, without
http://orwww.in front. - "The domain is already connected to another onmeil.eu account" — the other owner has to release the domain first.
- "Custom domain isn't available on your current plan" — see Subscription and billing to upgrade to Pro.
- "Confirm ownership first before you can check DNS" — the ownership TXT record has to be verified before we can show/check MX/SPF/DKIM/DMARC.
- DNS records stay as ○ after DNS propagation has finished — check that you entered the values exactly (use the Copy button). The DMARC record is one long string — make sure all of it is included.
