Labels in the calendar
Labels (also called categories) are color-coded tags you can put on events — for example Work, Family, Vacation, or Exercise. You can filter the view by label and see events color-coded in the calendar grid.
How to create a label
- Open an event (or go to calendar settings from the left-hand menu)
- Click New label
- Enter a name (e.g. Work, Family, Vacation)
- Pick a color — choose something distinct so it's easy to tell apart from other labels
- Click Save
The label is now available to choose on all new and existing events.
Put a label on an event
When you create or edit an event:
- Find the Category field in the event dialog
- Pick the label from the list, or click New label to create one on the spot
The event shows up in the calendar grid in the label's color.
Edit or delete a label
Click Edit label to change the name or color. Click Delete label to remove it. When a label is deleted, it's removed from every event it was on — the events stay, only the label disappears.
Show or hide events by label
In the side menu, click a label to show or hide events with that label in the calendar view. This is handy for focusing on one category at a time — for example only Work events when you're planning the work week.
Tips
- Use a few distinct labels — too many become hard to keep track of
- Pick strong colors that stand out from each other and from the base colors in the calendar view (weekends, holidays)
- Combine labels with calendars — use separate calendars for WHERE (work account vs personal), and labels for WHAT (project, type of activity)
