Passkeys
Passkeys let you sign in to onmeil.eu without a password. Instead, you use something you have – like your fingerprint (Touch ID), facial recognition (Face ID), a PIN, or a physical security key. This method is both easier and safer than traditional passwords.
Passkeys are tied to your device and can't be stolen or forged the way passwords can. They work locally and are verified directly with your browser – no one can phish them through fake sign-in pages.
On the login page you'll see a Sign in with passkey button right below the regular password button — use it once you've registered one or more passkeys.
Why use passkeys?
- No password to remember – use your finger, face, or a security key
- Much harder to hack – no exposure to phishing or password guessing
- Quick and easy sign-in – one tap or touch, and you're in
We recommend registering several passkeys on different devices – for example on both your phone and your work computer. That way you always have a backup if you lose or replace a device.
How to add a passkey
- Go to Settings → Login and security → Passkeys
- Click Register passkey
- Enter a name for the passkey – for example "My iPhone" or "Work MacBook"
- Click Add
- Follow the instructions in your browser:
- Use Touch ID or Face ID (iPhone, Mac)
- Windows Hello (PC)
- A physical security key (e.g. YubiKey)
When registration is complete, the passkey appears in the list under Your passkeys.
How to remove a passkey
- Go to Settings → Login and security → Passkeys
- Find the passkey you want to remove
- Click Remove next to the device name
- Confirm that you want to remove it
The passkey is deleted immediately and can't be restored.
What to do if you lose a device with a passkey
If you've lost a phone, PC, or security key that has a registered passkey, you should remove it from your account as soon as possible.
- Sign in with another passkey or via recovery
- Go to Settings → Login and security → Passkeys
- Remove the lost device
If you don't have access to any other sign-in method, you can use the recovery flow to regain access.
That's why we recommend always keeping at least one alternative sign-in method – such as an extra passkey or an authenticator app – and storing your recovery codes safely.
