Preview
For many file types, you can view the contents right in onmeil.eu, without downloading and opening them locally.
How to preview a file
- Go to Files and find the file
- Click it in the list — or choose View from the More actions menu
The preview opens as an overlay on top of the Files view. You can close it with × or the Esc key.
Which file types are supported?
We can preview most common file types:
- Images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG, HEIC) — shown at full size
- PDF — page through with the arrow keys or scroll
- Video (MP4, MOV, WebM) — built-in player with play/pause/sound
- Audio (MP3, M4A, WAV) — built-in audio player
- Office documents (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) — open in a full editor
- Text files (.txt, .md) — shown as plain text
When preview isn't available
Some file types we can't preview in the browser — for example obscure formats or very large files. In that case you'll see the message:
"Preview isn't available for this file type. Download it to open locally."
If so:
- Click Download
- Open it locally in the program that handles that file type
Navigate between files
In the preview, you can switch files without closing the modal:
- Use the ← and → arrow keys to jump to the previous or next file in the list
- Or scroll with a trackpad / mouse wheel (mobile and touchpad)
Download or share from the preview
At the top of the preview modal, you have buttons for:
- Download — saves a copy to your disk
- Share — opens the sharing modal (see Sharing and permissions)
- Star — mark the file as a favorite
Tips
- Press
