Recovery codes
Recovery codes let you get back into your account if you lose access to your phone or email. These codes work like a security key that you can use once.
How to set up recovery
Go to Settings → Login and security → Recovery to add a phone number or email address.
Add a phone number
- Tap Add next to "Phone"
- Enter your phone number with the country code (e.g. +47 400 00 00)
- Tap Send code
- Enter the 6-digit code you receive by SMS
- Tap Confirm
Add an email address
- Tap Add next to "Email"
- Enter an external email address (not your onmeil.eu address)
- Tap Send code
- Enter the 6-digit code you receive by email
- Tap Confirm
Extra security
We recommend setting up both recovery methods for maximum security. If you only have one method, you'll see a warning that this is your "only recovery channel".
How to use recovery codes
If you're locked out of your account:
- Go to the login page and tap Forgot password?
- Choose Recovery code as the verification method
- Enter one of your saved recovery codes
- Set a new password and log in
Important tips for storing them safely
- Print the codes and keep them in a safe place
- Don't store the codes in a notes app on your phone
- Never share the codes with anyone
- Update the codes regularly (every 6 months)
Lost your codes?
If you've lost all your recovery codes and don't have access to your phone/email, you'll need to contact support for help.
Frequently asked questions
How many recovery codes do I get? You get 10 one-time codes that you can use one after another.
What happens if I lose my phone? Use email recovery or your saved recovery codes to get back into your account.
Can I remove my phone number? No, your phone number is your primary recovery method and can't be removed. You can, however, change it to a new number.
